Born and raised in Madisonville, Kentucky, Les Murphy is the founder of Carolina Veterans Commission (CVC), a Faith-Based Veterans non-profit 501c (3), headquartered in York County, SC. Mr. Murphy, a disabled U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, started CVC in 2007 with a Vision and Mission that would assist Veterans for years to come. With conviction and compassion, Les started CVC by assisting Veterans out of the trunk of his car with a laptop and portable printer. Mr. Murphy began by thanking Veterans for their service and informing his community of potential life changing benefits that Veterans are entitled to, if they apply for them. Murphy and his volunteer staff changes lives daily.
I am in agreement with the more than 400,000 medical professionals who represent the frontline of our health care, I concur with the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics that a repeal of the Affordable Care Act would be devastating to millions of Americans. I want to ensure a viable health care safety net for seniors, low income families and their children.
I believe that patient protection is paramount and should include affordable premiums, deductibles and preserve health benefits regardless of pre existing conditions to include family history and age. I support HR 676 the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act and will align my vote to help South Carolinians over any special interest.
My time at the Employment Security Commission places me on the ground floor of job creation and understanding unequivocally that people here in South Carolina are hard working and simply want an opportunity to work and support their families. I understand all to well the adversities faced when I personally Serviced thousands of Springs employees laid off due to outsourcing.
My understanding of economics are not taxes but economic opportunities for this district, in whom I will serve as my passion for helping others will lead my initiatives in creating job opportunities for every county, city, and rural area community. I will vigorously pursue manufacturing and textiles as well as invite technology into South Carolina without damaging or polluting our environment.
Basic Public Investments to our roads, bridges and small business communities must be phased in immediately without undue hardship or tax increases to the hundreds of thousands of constituents in the 5th district.
The repair cost of vehicles have gone up while the conditions of our roads have gone down. I will seek to be on the House Transportation Committee as our district and state will have a much better chance of expeditions road repair.
The South Carolina Motto of Dum Spiro Spero - (while I breathe I hope) inspires me as others may consider themselves a breath of fresh air, I want to be the Fair Winds that allow South Carolina smooth and following seas in Congress
Active Military service to this country has allowed me to obtain a M.B.A. in Human Resources and EDUCATION is included at the top of my platform values as our teachers are entrusted with our future and under my representation will receive a champion as the #1 supporter of a proposal to increase teachers pay to $60 thousand dollars as our children and teachers both deserve supportive initiatives that focus on the root causations of quality learning.
We can not expect our teachers to teach when they are living check to check. Innovative initiatives that will encourage our teacher to inspire our youth over continuous standardized testing. This will be phased in with the assistance of educational leadership within each community.
My name is Les Murphy
and I am asking that you approve this message so that I may deliver it to Congress.
